Becoming Your Own Jewellery Apprentice

You don’t always have to rely on others to do a maintenance check on your jewellery. So before putting it on, check that the clasps and ear nuts are secure. Also check stones are not loose. Shake or tap the piece close to your ear. If you hear a slight noise, this means that the stones are not secure.

The Do’s & Don’ts of Jewellery Care

Your jewellery is precious and requires careful handling.

  • Dirt is the number one enemy.  Definition: Dirt, a noun: soil, mud or dust.
  • Clean jewellery regularly.  Soft materials like lapis lazuli, coral, pearls, turquoise or emeralds need extra care.  Use only mild soap, warm water, and scrub gently with a soft toothbrush. Rinse and wipe with a soft cloth.
