This ring was interesting and fun to do for many reasons. First the individual was young, and it always impresses us when, at such a ripe age, they are already keen on finding a design for their engagement ring that resonates with them. Also, the individual was a lady who was designing for herself, often a smart decision because they are the one who is going to wear the engagement ring for a very long time, hopefully.
Engagement Ring in !8 karat yellow gold, set with small opaque white diamonds, and a center pear shaped diamond.
The design process was unique because she deliberately brought her heritage into the mix. She had a real affinity for her mixed cultural background. The Asian side resonated strongly for her which is why she liked the the warmth of the yellow gold, the pear shaped center stone and the pear shaped, scalloped outline, all very arabesque- like features. Her youthfulness and modern outlook came into play in the choice of the opaque white diamonds surrounding the more traditional clear and pear shaped cut center stone. it has been a strong trend of late to wear diamonds that are rough cut, opaque and in an assortment of pastel, earthy tones. Our customer though, was quite sure she wanted whitish opaque stones which were not easy to find, and they gave the ring a softness and purity.

The Wedding band in 18 karat yellow gold and black diamonds
We were enthralled by our customer ‘s new vision for the wedding band when she returned to us in preparation for the wedding day. We helped her realize her vision. The wedding ring was tucked neatly up against the engagement ring , the edges scolloped to echo the scollops in the engagement ring, and on the inside hidden from view when the two were worn together, she asked for black diamonds. So on her wedding day, in her full Indian attire, she swore a very special and mysterious set of rings to commemorate the happy moment.
