Santa Barbara, California, Jewelry Designer Gregore Morin has won his 19th American Gem Trade Association(AGTA) Spectrum Award.

The AGTA Spectrum Awards™ is considered the most respected and prestigious creative award for  15 categories of the jewelry  industry.  Debuting in 1984, Spectrum Awards has honored and recognized designers whose work promotes the artistic use of naturally colored gemstones and cultured pearls in fine jewelry design.

Out of more than 500 entries Gregore Morin won Business/Day Wear - Manufacturing Honors for jewelry appropriate to be manufactured in production quantities. His winning earrings, were constructed using avant-garde techniques and materials, 18K white gold and aluminum, featuring freshwater cultured pearls accented with purple garnets. The earrings were designed with CAD and made using CNC machines.

It has never been more important to have nice jewelry available to a larger swath of the public. The value of beauty is underrated because it has the ability to lift one's mood and to enhance one's appearance. Wearing lovely and valuable things has been with us since the beginning and we are no different today.  Good design, combined with nice materials helps counter the massive influx into the market of the opposite, the production of pieces that are poorly made and that have low intrinsic value. Our hectic lives are smoothed over and given a healthier perspective when  art is introduced into our lives. Wearing beautiful, well-made jewelry, with gorgeous stones and interesting metals does not need to be expensive.

Recognition by the Spectrum Awards for Manufacturing Honors, shows how Gregore uses CAD, and the CNC machines, in other words technology, to offer jewelry designs that are less costly. The maturity of design is his gift of himself, an expression of his spirit, because without his passion for art and all the hours given to drawing, thinking and studying design, his pieces would not be the beautiful things they are today.
